What EVNTS collects, and why

We think you should be able to understand what an app does with your information without reading a legal document. So this page is the plain version. The privacy policy is the complete and legally binding one, and if the two ever seem to disagree, the policy wins.

The short answer

We collect what we need to run events, and not much else.

  • We do not sell your data. Not to anyone, not in any form.
  • We do not show you ads, and we do not share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
  • We do not track you across other apps and websites.
  • We do not read your email, your messages, or your files.
  • We never see your full card number.

Who holds what

This is the part most event apps gloss over, so we want to be direct about it.

EVNTS holds your account. Your profile, your login, the events you follow, and how you use the app. We decide what happens to that, and the privacy policy explains it.

Organisers hold their own guest lists. When you register for someone's event, the organiser is the one asking. They see who registered, what you put in their form, and whether you turned up. We store that for them, on their instructions. Their privacy policy covers it, and we show you who they are before you register.

What an organiser cannot see is anything you do at other people's events, or anything on your profile you have not chosen to share with them.

What we collect

Because you typed it in

Your name and email, which we need for an account. Optionally a phone number, photo, job title and bio, if you want other attendees to know who you are. Whatever you write in a registration form, a question, or a message.

Because the app has to work

Your device model and operating system, so we can support it. Your IP address, which tells us roughly what country you are in. Which screens you open and what you tap, so we can tell which parts of the app are useful and which are not. Crash reports when something breaks.

Only if you say yes

Push notifications, if you want reminders. You can turn them off at any time in your device settings and the rest of the app carries on working.

We never ask for

Government ID numbers. Your health information. Your religion, politics, or anything else in that category. If an organiser asks you for something like a dietary requirement in their own form, that is their question and their data, not ours.

Money

When you buy a ticket, your card details go straight to Stripe. They never touch our servers. We get told whether the payment worked, the last four digits, and the amount, which is enough to show you a receipt and help you if something goes wrong.

The money itself goes to the organiser's own Stripe account. We take our fee from the transaction, and that is the whole business model. We do not need to sell your data, which is the main reason we do not.

Who else sees it

Only companies that do a specific job for us, under contracts that say they can use your data for that job and nothing else:

  • Stripe — Processes ticket payments
  • Our cloud hosting provider — Stores the service
  • Our analytics and crash reporting providers — Tell us what is used and what is broken
  • Apple and Google — Deliver push notifications, and sign you in if you choose that option
  • Our email and SMS providers — Send confirmations, reminders and organiser messages

That is the list. If it changes, this page changes.

How long we keep it

Your account data lasts as long as your account, and goes within 90 days of you closing it. Payment records last 7 years because tax law says so. Crash logs last 90 days. Analytics data is anonymised after 26 months. Deleted data sits in encrypted backups for up to 35 days before it is overwritten for good.

The privacy policy has the full table.

What you can do about it

Delete everything. Open the app, go to Settings, Account, Delete account. You confirm by typing DELETE, and we do not put a retention offer in the way. You can also email us and we will do it. How deleting works.

Get a copy. Ask us and we will send you everything we hold, in a format you can actually open.

Fix something. Most of it you can edit yourself in your profile. For anything else, email us.

Turn things off. Notifications, marketing. All of it optional, all of it reversible.

Complain. To us first if you are willing, because we would rather fix it. But you can also go to the UAE Data Office, or your own data protection authority if you are in Europe or the UK.

Questions

Email nicholas@getevnts.com and a human will answer. If your question is about a specific event you registered for, the organiser is usually the faster route, but tell us if you cannot reach them and we will help.
