The Polo Classic Cup is staged as the Speakers' Welcome for Abu Dhabi Finance Week — an invitation-only format convening C-suite executives, institutional investors, family offices and policymakers before the week begins. It is exactly the kind of event EVNTS was built for: real budget, real operational risk, and a room that had to stay off the public feed.
What had to be true
Invitation-only, for real. Invitations went out by private link. The event was kept off the public Discover feed — if you weren't sent the link, it did not exist for you.
Approvals before tickets. RSVPs landed as requests. Tickets were only issued once the host approved a guest, so the door list matched the room we wanted.
One door, several gates. A main arrival, a speakers' entrance and a VIP pavilion, each with its own gate label so the morning-after report could say who came through where.
The question the next morning is never "how many RSVP'd?" — it is "who actually walked in?" The Classic Cup is where we learned to answer that in one export.
What the week added
Because the Classic Cup opens Finance Week, most guests went on to three or four more events over the following days. EVNTS carried that forward: one itinerary across the week and, for guests who chose to connect, the contacts they made — kept by them, not by the organiser.
